About the Centre

We're working to translate advances in genome science into clinical research tools that will help to reduce the massive burden of infectious disease in the poorest regions of the world.

The MRC Centre for Genomics and Global Health is a research collaboration of Oxford University, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, the MRC Laboratories in The Gambia, the KEMRI - Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Kenya and the Wellcome Trust Programme in South-east Asia.

Scientific focus

Our scientific focus is genomic epidemiology which has huge long-term implications for the understanding, monitoring and prevention of disease - particularly in combating the spread of drug resistance and assisting vaccine development. More >>

PhD programme

The Centre is developing a unique PhD programme that will provide interdisciplinary training in statistical genetics, bioinformatics and population genetics, and the opportunity to apply these skills to cutting edge research on major diseases of the developing world. More >>

Informatics fellowships

A core activity is to build information systems to support research collaboration across continents, bringing together expertise in infectious disease, epidemiology, genomics, statistics and computational biology. We are currently advertising a Senior Fellowship position based in Oxford. More >>
